Casting in full swing for Universe
Stargate UniverseYes indeed. Looks like things are in full swing casting wise for the new Stagate show Universe. With the announcement of Robert Carlyle as the lead the show has started to make a buzz thru out the television realm.

Four more actors were announced giving a sense of form to this shows crew.

David Blu as Eli Wallace is moving from ABC’s Ugly Betty to SCI FI’s Stargate Universe! Blue has been cast in the new series as Eli Wallace. Formerly named Eli Hitchcock (now the fourth main character to be renamed since early casting documents were released in September), the character is described as “a total slacker who just happens to be an utter genius with anything he puts his mind to — mathematics, computers, video games. A lack confidence has left him with an acerbic sense of humor.” Born on Long Island, New York, 29-year-old (30 on Saturday, according to Wikipedia) Blue studied at the University of Central Florida. In addition to his acting talents, he is also skilled in tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and is a champion swing dancer.

The actor has appeared in seven episodes of the ABC hit comedy, according to the Internet Movie Database, playing Cliff St. Paul. He has also appeared on Moonlight, Scrubs, and Veronica Mars.

Justin Louis as Colonel Everett Young. The senior military officer on board the Destiny, Colonel Young is “an experienced and married Stargate team leader,” according to TV Guide. Early casting documents described the character as a former SG team leader who is the temporary commander of a secret, off-world base. He has been married just two years to his wife, Hailey.

Veteran actor Justin Louis is 41, born in Portugal and raised in Ontario, Canada. He has appeared on a broad range of TV series and films, including Durham County, 24, CSI: Miami, and 1-800-Missing. Science fiction fans may have caught him in guest appearances on The Outer Limit (appearing with Firefly’s Nathan Fillion in the episode “Star Crossed”), Mutant X, Highlander, and as the holodeck character Trevis on Star Trek: Voyager. He also appeared in the recent A&E miniseries The Andromeda Strain.

Jamil Walker Smith as Sr. Sergeant Ronald Greer. Sergeant Greer was named Ron “Psycho” Stasiak in early casting documents (story), and is the fourth main character renamed so far. His character is described as “a Marine with an explosive temper … and a mysterious past to account for it.”

Jamil Walker Smith, 26, hails from New York City, and is best known as the voice of Gerald on the Nickelodeon series Hey Arnold! On screen he has appeared in such series as Bones, Cold Case, NYPD Blue, and Supernatural. His official Web site is at

Brian J. Smith has been cast as a series regular in Stargate Universe, GateWorld has learned exclusively. Smith will play the role of Lt. Matthew Scott (formerly Jared Nash).

The studio and network describe Scott as “a junior member of the Stargate team. Green and rough around the edges, he is thrust into the role of leader well before he’s ready for the responsibility and must learn to command, earn respect through action, and manage the diverse personalities aboard the ship.”

A native of Allen, Texas, 27-year-old Smith studied theater in Plano, Texas, and at The Juilliard School Drama Division in New York City. He has appeared in the independent films Hate Crime, Red Hook, and 2009’s The War Boys, and on Broadway in the play Come Back, Little Sheba. According to IMDb, this is his first television role.

Robert Carlyle's character also had a bit of a name tweek which is now Dr. Nicholas Rush instead of the fore named David Rush.

Two more female characters names are to be released as well as the actors playing them later on this week.

The show scheldued to be airing in summer of 2009 has been pushed back into a regular fall season scheldue. As to them airing this series as straight run thru or like in the past for SG1 and Atlantis as a two parter with a hiedous in the middle has yet to be announced.
